If you do decide you want a different virtual piano sound, or a wider rage of choices, then naturally there are other 3rd-party piano instrument plug-ins available, but at least you can start by checking out the GB piano, and then proceed from there. I guess your Behringer interface doesn't also include MIDI connections - if you want to check out the sound of the GB Steinway before you invest in a MIDI interface you could open the 'Musical Typing' window, which lets you play notes from the computer QWERTY keyboard, just to test out the sound. You still might want to tweak the EQ and reverb/ambience, but there'll be controls right there for that in GB's Software Instruments, in the Smart Controls panel at the bottom, which should make that easier to do. You could also experiment with EQ to see if that helps, maybe brightening it up, for a piano sound that's more like what you hear on pop records, if that's what you're going for.?īut if you just don't care for the particular sound of that Kawai piano then you may want to try the Steinway piano that comes with GarageBand - as you said you'd have to use the MIDI connection output], create a Software Instrument track, and select Piano > Steinway Grand Piano in the Library panel. You could try adding a little reverb or small room ambience, for more of a "roomy" sound, if that's what you'd prefer. The basic sound of the piano seems fine to me - it's not the richest-sounding virtual piano, and it doesn't have the characteristic growl of a Steinway or the bright edge of a Yamaha, but it seems ok. I know so little about it that there are probably many things I just don't know about that might help. Thank you very much in advance for anything you can suggest on getting a better recorded sound. If you have a chance, I'd be grateful if you could listen to some of my recent recordings on my YouTube channel-they were made on my Kawai digital piano, and you can hear why I'm not happy with the recorded sound. With the Kawai CA 13, I can either record through the headphone jack or through a MIDI connection. I'm wondering if I should be getting a MIDI interface and trying to use "virtual piano" samples instead. I realize it's just a digital piano, but even so I feel like if I were an expert on GarageBand, I'd be able to improve the sound results. I only have access to my digital piano for recording my piano efforts, but I'm not happy with the recording results. I am fairly new to trying to record using GarageBand. I use an inexpensive Behringer interface and record using GarageBand. My home keyboard is a Kawai CA 13 digital piano, and to record it I connect it to my Mac computer through the headphone jack on the piano.

My wife has a mini so I tried it out and functionally speaking it worked no differently than with my dock-connected iPad 3. An internal LED glows as data is active so you know when NOT to pull it out from the iOS device.Ī lightning adapter is included that fits right over the dock connector to make the iFlashDrive HD compatible with an iPad/4th gen or iPad mini. As a part of this, email attachments can also be copied and pasted (as can images from the Camera Roll). Additionally you can write text files and copy/paste text using the clipboard function. Additionally, a choice can be made between the saving being done in a “private” format or the open vCard format.Īlso built into the app (appearing in pop-up menus) is an iOS-compatible Document Reader and a Voice Recorder. The process is quickly done, as is the reverse for restoration. Many won’t bother with this option if they’re using iTunes regularly, but for those who don’t this is a successful way to save info. This is good should the iFlashDrive HD fall into the wrong hands. Also, the file ends up with an icon that visually notes that it has been locked. Just remember to first get to that “Edit” button and then be precise in what you are doing.Īs a safety measure, being able to create a “locked” file can be useful - just don’t forget the password. Files can also be copied, deleted, emailed as attachments and moved into new folders. This provides options that the device’s iOS doesn’t allow - for example, creating folder and renaming of files. Video playback, for example a 720p of Expendables 2 I had ripped from my Blu-ray disc looks the same as if it had been played from “local memory”(i.e., on the iPad). Related: If you like this device, you might be interested in our Eyefly 3D For iPhone 5SC review. They can also be viewed and AirPlay applies to them as well. Photos can be copied (in varying sizes) from the iOS device’s Camera Roll to the i-FlashDrive HD. The actual playback coming from the “External storage” (i.e., the iFlashDrive HD) is indistinguishable from that of local storage and all output choices (such as Bluetooth or AirPlay) continue to be selectable. Additionally, moving file from one folder to another will generate a new Playlist. The Music interface looks similar to that provided by Apple, but adds some useful functionality in that you can create Playlists automatically. I click on the app and am presented with a series of choices - best noted one at a time. Taking my iPad/3rd gen, I “wake’ it up and then insert the i-FlashDrive HD’s dock connector plug in. Related: Also check out our iPhone 5 review. I unmount by dragging the icon to the trash and then remove it from the Mac Pro. I remove the unneeded files now populate the window with a number of files that include photos, music and videos, and Pages and Word documents. A double-click opens its window to find some sample files (text, video, audio) and so slightly less than the stated 16 GB’s of flash memory storage (there’s also 32 and 64GB models). So I insert the i-FlashDrive HD into one of my Mac Pro’s USB sockets and wait as its icon appears as a flash drive on the desktop. Connecting the i-FlashDrive HD to the iOS device will launch the free app if it hasn’t already been taken care of through iTunes or through a direct download. The design provides all that is needed to know as to how to use it: one side is a USB plug that goes into a USB socket on a computer or laptop with the other end being a dock connector to mate with that on an iPhone or iPad. And it works with all iPads and iPhones from the 3GS up. The i-Flash HD is an external storage device that deletes this problem and doesn’t rely on any WiFi or networking in order to function. One of the complaints against Apple’s iPhones/iPads has been the lack of user-expandable memory. Well, the fact is that Apple makes it difficult for users to set custom ringtones and hopes you will pay a dollar or more to buy ringtones from iTunes Store. If you have tried it, you will find that there is no direct way to set a song as a ringtone on iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro (Max), iPhone 12 mini, iPhone `4/`3, etc. However, you may feel confused about how to set the custom ringtone. Be sure to share it, so others can learn how to set Google Play Music as ringtone. Most people prefer to use custom ringtones instead of the default ringtones on iPhone. If you receive a lot of WhatsApp calls, you can change your WhatsApp ringtone with ease, too. This means that you can have some pretty cool ringtones. To be honest, I’m a little sad that Google has discontinued Google Play Music, but YouTube Music is quite nice, especially if you want to both stream and listen to your downloaded music.Īs you can see, it’s pretty easy to use the songs that you listen to in YouTube Music as ringtones on your Android phone. How To Set Google Play Music As Ringtone – Wrapping Up You can easily access your ringtones in your Settings app and select a downloaded song to use as your ringtone instead of the default ringtones that come with your phone. You can use downloaded music as a ringtone. If you’re a fan of video tutorials, here’s one showing you how to set YouTube Music as ringtone: There, you will see your new phone ringtone. To see this, open the free File Manager app on your phone then search for the Ringtones folder. This is because making a downloaded song your ringtone will copy it over to the Ringtones folder on your Android phone. This means that if someone calls me on SIM 1, I’ll hear a different ringtone than if someone called me on SIM 2. Next, tap Ringtone to access your phone’s ringtones.Īs you can see, my phone uses two SIM cards, so I can set a specific ringtone for each one.Open the Settings app on your Android phone and tap Sounds and vibration. Here’s how to get Google Play Music to ringtone, though now it’s YouTube Music. Even with the app change, this is one of the things that has remained constant for Android phones. You can still use the downloaded music that you play in YouTube Music as your ringtone. However, this doesn’t mean that you cannot use the music as your ringtone. You can use it to play downloaded songs or audio files on your phone, but you cannot set those songs as your ringtone right from the app. While YouTube Music is the default player, it’s not very easy to use it to directly set a song as your ringtone. This is one of the reasons Google decided to shut down Google Play Music and offer all of its music in this new app. Now, YouTube Music operates as Android’s default music player as well as a streaming service. This meant that users could keep their Google Play Music files and easily migrate to YouTube Music. After this date, all the data that users had on Google Play music was deleted. One of the things Google did when shutting down Google Play Music was it allowed users until February 24, 2021, to transfer all of their downloaded music to YouTube Music. Since Google Play Music has been replaced by YouTube Music, the YouTube Music app has been Android’s default music player. Since its launch in 2011, Google Play Music was Android’s default music player, however, it was shut down in December 2020 and replaced by YouTube Music. 3 How To Set Google Play Music As Ringtone – Wrapping Up.2.1 Can I use my downloaded music as a ringtone?.1 How To Set Google Play Music As Ringtone. Application: You can set a profile to be active when an app is running or not running. When you create your first profile in Tasker, you will notice that it can have application, day, event, location, state and time contexts. In this article, we’ll stick to just that one project, but as you start to get comfortable with the app, you can always go back and reorganise things in whichever way you want. Any profiles, tasks and variables you create will go in the default project. The Home tab at the bottom denotes the default project in Tasker. For example, you may want to assign the values “off” or “on” to a variable %BATT_SAVE_MODE, which will indicate whether the phone is in a low power state or not. A variable can be any word preceded by a percentage sign and can hold any value you assign to it. There is a fourth tab on the top that is only visible if you turn off beginner mode in the app’s preferences, and it’s called “Vars”, which is short for “variables”. For the purposes of this article, however, we won’t be looking into the scenes aspect of Tasker. If you set it up that way, Tasker will launch your journal app every Sunday when you plug the phone into a power outlet, thus making it much more likely that you’ll stick to that journaling routine you’ve been trying to get into.Īs part of a task, you can set Tasker to throw up a custom-made window with buttons and text fields of your choosing-to take some input from the user, for example, or to give them some options-and that is called a scene. So, for example, you can set your journal app to be launched when the profile above is true. This profile will only work when all three contexts are true.Ī task is what a profile will do once it triggers. You can, for instance, create a profile that is only active on Sundays, when your phone is plugged in and the screen is turned on. A profile in Tasker is a group of contexts organised with the ‘AND’ logic. But for those who enjoy a challenge, Tasker is (really, really) fun to play with and a genuinely useful tool to have in your arsenal.īy default, Tasker has three tabs along the top-Profiles, Tasks and Scenes-and a Home tab at the bottom. It has a steep learning curve and is only for the more advanced smartphone users among us. Tasker is essentially a programming tool that allows you to create mini applications on your phone for your own usage. The uses of Tasker are plenty, and we’ll take a look at some examples in this article. It can launch apps automatically and perform actions based on apps being launched by you. Tasker can detect when you’re at home, for instance, and enable or disable certain settings on your phone to make it function better in that environment. Grab the free 7-day trial from the developer’s website before you proceed. But when it comes to automation on Android, very few apps can claim to be in the same league as the grandaddy of them all - Tasker. Recently, we took a look at five apps to augment your Android experience with the help of a little artificial intelligence and automation.Īll of those apps were nifty little utilities that targeted a particular area of smartphone usage and added some heuristics to it to make your phone smarter still.
If you are making a display ad rather than a search ad, here is where you will add in your different art assets. It is sometimes suggested that you do at least two, but we always recommend at least five. However, they still do not allow negative keywords, which is what we have been asking for all along.) (This is a new feature Google has added, after sustained outcry by marketers. Select negative websites that you want your ads to avoid showing up on.Select the keyword themes you think best fit your market niche Google will automatically pick keywords from these, testing each to see how they perform. The options here are not as robust as normal adword campaigns, however. If your audience has a specific geolocation, add those by city or region.Fill in your business description as you would for a normal campaign.Select your campaign goal and ‘Smart’ as your campaign type.Once you have logged into your Google Ads account, click the blue plus sign and select ‘New Campaign’.Once you’ve met the basic requirements, you can create your campaign. Your Cost-Per-Acquisition (CPA) must also not be too low, as smart campaigns cost Google significant processing resources (you can check if your CPA is high enough in Google Ads). In that time, you will need to reach 50 conversions in your Display Network and 100 conversions in your Search Network order for Google to get a sense of how your advertisements will perform. Usually 30 days is sufficient for good results, though no specific length is required. You can meet these requirements by running a normal Google Ads campaign, which would generate the data that Google’s advanced AI needs to be able to manage your smart campaign for you. To utilize smart campaigns there is a minimum requirements list that must be fulfilled. Essentially, you give Google a general idea of what you want your advertising campaign to look like, and the basic assets it needs to succeed, and then it does its best to optimize your results. Google will then manage your campaign for you, mixing and matching your ad creative, creating ad extensions (the sub-links shown below your ad), and using its AI to constantly A/B test new keywords and ad creative to tune your bids to maximize conversions according to performance. However, unlike a normal campaign, you do not provide Google with specific keywords, a specific bid strategy (maximize clicks, target cost-per-action, etc.), or where you want to advertise. Similar to when you set up a normal Google Ads campaign, you will need to input certain information that the smart campaign uses in order to make bids: which keyword groupings you would like to advertise on, the location of your target audience, your campaign budget, and a variety of ad creatives. Smart shopping campaigns are smart campaigns applied to the Google shopping ads experience, allowing advertisers to reach users with product listing ads across the Google SERP and Shopping tab. It’s called “smart” because, if you have no idea how much to bid on certain terms, this feature will figure out what is best for you and make better decisions than you would without having any information about your market niche. What is a Google Ads Smart Campaign?Ī smart campaign is a type of Google Ads campaign that can automatically adjust your bids to what it thinks are the most profitable keywords. In this article we will help you determine when “smart” is smart. But with so many variables, it can be difficult to know when this type of automated targeting would be beneficial and when it might save you time only at the expense of revenue. What is the difference between a regular Google Ads campaign and a “smart” Google Ads campaign? A smart campaign will save you time by automatically adjusting your bids to what it thinks are the most profitable keywords.
